When you have to choose who will handle your case for compensation for a delayed, overbooked
or canceled flight, here are 3 pieces of advice that you should be aware of:
The first piece of advice is therefore: Choose a competent business partner!
The second piece of advice is therefore: Always get a no cure, no pay agreement!
The third piece of advice is therefore: Ask yourself "would I pay compensation to them here?"
If your flight was delayed for 3 hours or more, you may be entitled to compensation from the airline. The delay time is calculated as the difference in time between when you should have arrived at your destination and when you actually arrived. If you fly from Heathrow, London to Baraja, Madrid via Orly, Paris, the duration of your delay is calculated from the time you should have arrived at Baraja - even if the delay was between Heathrow and Orly. If you are delayed 30 minutes out of Heathrow and this causes you to miss your connecting flight from Orly and you arrive in Baraja 24 hours later than originally planned, your delay is 24 hours as this is the delay at your final destination.
If you have been denied boarding, due to an overbooked flight, you are entitled to compensation from the airline.
If you are denied boarding due to overbooking, the airline is obligated to offer you another flight to the same destination as compensation.
A ticket refund is also an option in some cases. In addition, you are entitled to a meal while waiting for the next available flight.
This is a part of overbooked flight compensation that the airline has an obligation to fulfill.
